Pinterest Projects at the Kirks

I think most of you can agree that Pinterest is the best thing EVER.
I use it as "Google", an idea book, and to plan pretty much any event coming up.
If you follow me, you've noticed I've been pinning a lot of DIY/Remodeling ideas
We live in an older home, and we have been fixing up & decorating room by room
I have decided I love the feel of an older home, and the fact that John grew up in it, makes it even more precious.
In the process, I've been using Pinterest to get ideas on how to make it more "home" feeling.
The coffee station was my favorite idea, we had a huge blank wall in our kitchen, and not enough room for everything in our pantry. I needed drawers or cabinets for some more storage....
Here's the idea I found on Pinterest, and then my result!

I loved this dresser & found it at a tent sale at a local furniture company.
The Hobby Lobby hanging basket, well that was out-of-stock for a long time. I couldn't find anything like it, for less than $100. I was on their email notify list and once it came back in stock I jumped right on it, it was 40% off!!
Plus I saved another 40% off my entire purchase, and got FREE shipping! HOLLA
I guess it paid to be patient after all :) One day I might actually hang coffee cups on the hooks but we're searching for some old vintage coffee mugs to put up there to give it that "look."
I bought a few other pieces of decor with it, like the K and the coffee signs, as far as the rest, I'll just pick little knick-nacks up at yard sales here & there...
(Don't mind the dirty work cooler on the side, he works hard he can put it wherever he wants ha ha)

Next was our dining room! When we moved in we had a huge table that we never used for anything but junk mail and whatever else gets put on a flat surface ha ha.
I thought a smaller table would make it look less cluttered, and for awhile we also had our roommates dog kennel in there. I know right, yuck!
Anyway, I decided I would do what I could do with what I had for now
We painted the dining room, and got a smaller table and a different light.
We had this huge wall that was completely blank, so I decided to do a collage!
It's still growing...once we get more pictures, it will fill up. I also need some curtains for the window..
I used an old microwave stand and cleaned it up and used it for decoration, as you can see I need more decor for the bottom shelf as well. BUT day by day, it's feeling more like home.

You know what I love most about our home? Who I share it with!
So cheesy right? But it's true!
The rest of the month we will be working on our bedroom & bathroom.
Those pictures will be coming soon :)
Make sure you're following via blog lovin or email to get the update!
What's your next Pinterest project??

Our new bedroom...according to Pinterest

If you follow me on Pinterest you've already seen I'm obsessed with pinning bedroom remodels, dresser makeovers, and color schemes. Along with everything I've been pinning for the wedding.
I've been craving a project lately!
I get these ideas in my head, and run with them, sometimes I start them and if I'm lucky they get finished...but our bedroom will get re-done.
One day...along with our bathroom.
These are my ideas so far.... according to Pinterest

Closet Remodel, this is a neccesity in our bedroom

Instead of registering for a new bedset for our wedding, I'll just give our current ones a makeover

What a good idea! Remodel an armoire as a vanity/makeup station
John would probably love not having my makeup all over the bathroom ;)

Floor to ceiling drapes, with a small window, never would have thought of it but I love it

I use Pinterest as Google when I'm on the hunt for a new project, and it's been pretty successful so far. I have found great ideas, things that I think I can actually finish.
As soon as I can start on these projects I'll take some before and after pics, and if I like the end result, I'll post them ha ha!
Let's hope John likes all these ideas...

Don't forget to follow me on Pinterest for all my other project ideas!
