I love Liebster Awards and getting to discover new blogs! I was nominated by Whitney over at Southern Hope, I actually discovered her blog while blog hoppin' one day. She is a fun southern girl with a huge heart, she just became a new mama but before that she was blogging about her pet(s) and her husband just like I am. I've always wanted to live in the South and so I kinda live vicariously through her blog but she doesn't know that. So what's a liebster award? It's a great way to discover blogs, through this post you get to know me a little better as well as find links to some other great blogs! The award is passed around to blogs who have less than 200 followers, and below I have answered questions that I was given from Whitney. At the bottom I will nominate five other bloggers under 200 followers, or maybe even just some blogs that I read often that I feel deserve some awesome readers like yourself. They will then have the same opportunity and repeat the process.
When did you start your blog?
This blog? Oh... I started it in March 2014! Coming up on a year! Hmm I better think of something fantastic to do to celebrate, maybe a GIVEAWAY for all my awesome readers!?
If any of you bloggers are interested in doing a giveaway on my blog let me know :)
How did you come up with the name of your blog?
It's really not that intriguing of a name, I should have put more into it and maybe I'll change the header of my blog one day, but Being Mrs Kirk originated from my transition from a fiance to a wife oh, and "Twerk with the Kirks" was taken...just kidding. I created this blog to write about the happenings of our life, lessons of dating, marriage and a place to express feelings of what I'm very passionate about or what recently inspired me. "Mrs Kirk" makes me think of a "teacher" not an actual "married woman" and sometimes I feel like I do teach through my blog by expressing my feelings and opinions on things I'm passionate about, or just even sharing what I've learned about growing up, the dating world, and being married.
Share your most favorite blog post either from your blog or someone else's.
Oh wow! That is a really hard one! Do I just have to pick ONE?!
Um...gosh there's too many amazing bloggers...
I think I'm going to be selfish and share one of my own, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings and single someone out. I was really inspired about writing this post after reading journal entries that were dated during the months leading up to dating my now, husband. I realized that I wasn't the only one who was worried about when they would settle down, if they could handle another heart break, and honestly I had felt like I had hit rock bottom. I wanted to share that with other women that were experiencing the "never ending heart break/ where is my life going?" stage in life like I was. I published it over at Life of Women (read it here). If you haven't checked out this blog, do it! It's full of inspirational messages and life experiences that all women can connect to.
If you had to eat the same meal over and over again for the rest of your life, what would it be, and why?
Lucky Charms. EASY. Because it's magically delicious, and if you're going to be stuck eating a cereal it better be delicious and it's just a plus if it's magical!
What material object do you cherish the most?
Usually a materialistic object can't make us happy, but when it's your wedding ring, it can. I love looking down at my ring, there was a time in my life where I felt like I would never find that special someone to "put a ring on it" and many times I felt that the ring I did have one day would signify that I settled for a man because I hadn't learned to love myself. I never thought I'd get as lucky as I am to find such an amazing man to share the rest of my life with, treats me right and he even shares his candy with me :) It's something materialistic that has so much meaning behind it and I will cherish it forever. It's like an item of clothing that I feel so naked without just like my heart would feel if I didn't have him.
Tell about a lesson you learned in middle school.
HAHA like a math lesson or a life lesson? Middle school was a long time ago and I don't remember a lot but in middle school I thought it was so important to be popular, and one day my best friend stopped talking to me because she became popular, and I didn't. Truth is, I wanted to be liked, I wanted to have the coolest clothes, I wanted to be the one everyone wanted to hang out with but I hated singling people out. I was never one to bully, and I was never one to join anyone that was bullying someone else. I loved everyone, I talked to everyone and I befriended anyone, and sometimes being "too nice" got me walked on by people who took advantage of it. All my acquaintances I called a friend, and I always will. So what's the lesson now that I'm older? Being popular is nothing, loving and accepting everyone for who they are- that's everything.
What is your favorite book, why?
I have a couple that are both completely different genres "Fight Less, Love More" by Laurie Puhn it's about how to make your fights quick and create solutions instead of problems. I found it to be a great book for anyone who is married or in a serious relationship. My other favorite is "Three Little Words: A Memoir" by Ashley Rhodes-Courter it's a true story about a girl who grew up in foster care, she writes all about the trials she went through, how she became a spokesperson for CASA and how she was finally adopted by a loving family after so many horrible homes. This book really helped me to prepare to be a volunteer in my community for children in foster care.
Describe your perfect day.
When I think about the perfect day I imagine it being the day I finally get to hold my first born child, but I haven't experienced that yet so based on what I know, my perfect day would be;
Coming home from work to love notes and flowers from my husband to the start of a scavenger hunt for a surprise date night, maybe including an outfit he picked out for me that he loves to see me in, or something he wants to see me in later...or take off later.... haha
HEY a girl can dream right? :)

What inspires you to write?
I get my best blog posts when I think about the biggest "realization" moments I've had. Growing up, the never-ending world of dating in my past, being a teenager, or maybe it was just one day that I was having a silly argument with my husband. I also do a lot of reading on Thought Catalog, Huffington Post & Elephant Journal and I get inspired through other bloggers who write about topics I'm passionate about. Then there are days where I can't think of anything to write! I get the worst writers block and as soon as I open my laptop to blog about something I'm like umm "I LOVE LAMP." Got nothin...
What were you doing around this same time last year?
I was finishing my job traveling around the U.S for the Thanksgiving Holiday, about to meet John's whole side of the family, and saying "yes" to John's proposal!
